About the speakers:

Lyndi Walter
A native of Livonia Michigan, Ms. Walter graduated with honors from the University of Michigan School of Business with a marketing concentration.  She later earned her Master of Business Administration with distinction from Ohio State, focusing on finance and operations.

During the 1990s, Ms. Walter spent several years consulting with Fortune 500 executives developing Internet entry strategies, implementing operational efficiency processes, and developing financial metrics.
In 2001, Ms. Walter became the VP of Operations for a regional wholesale lender.  It is here where Ms. Walter began her involvement in employee benefits through establishing and overseeing the human resource department, along with running the banking division.

During the last part of the decade, Ms. Walter started her own business and served as an independent consultant to the CFO of Echo Global Logistics.  She also worked with the Internet start up, Groupon, where she once again laid the groundwork for departmental structure, the human resource department, and metric based performance goals.

Throughout her career, Ms. Walter has been passionate about two things:  Ensuring companies operate strategically and efficiently to boost the bottom line, while also ensuring employees find their work environment positive, challenging, and fair.  
 
Esther Leal
Esther G. Leal, President of Leal and Associates, is an accomplished employee benefits executive with 20 years of consulting and strategic planning experience.  Esther provides personal attention to the unique needs of all her clients, identifying changing business needs and capturing opportunities for cost containment.

Prior to establishing Leal and Associates, Ms. Leal was Vice President of Gallagher Benefit Services, Inc., an international consulting organization.  While at Gallagher, Ms. Leal specialized in the development of benefit plans for both private and public sector clients. Prior to that assignment she was Regional Director of Business Development at CIGNA Health and additionally worked as a sales executive in the Health Insurance Industry for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Lincoln National Health Plan and Humana Healthcare.
Ms. Leal earned a Master’s of Science in Corporate Training and Development and a Bachelor’s of Business Administration, both from Loyola University of Chicago.  She is an honored recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award.  During her graduate degree studies, she spent time abroad studying global Human Resource practices at organizations such as Dow Chemical, Lloyds of London, CNA Insurance and Bain Consulting Group.

Esther is a frequent speaker on healthcare/employee benefits, most recently selected to participate in 2010 Non-Profit HR conference in Washington, DC and has served as a panelist of “Power - Opening Doors for Women in Healthcare”.  She is also a Council Member of Gerson Lehrman Consultants.  Her involvement with National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) assisted her with the credentialing to be recognized as a Minority Business Enterprise in 2009.

She has served on multiple Not for Profit Boards and is currently a board member of Special Olympics Illinois.
